Carolyn Elaine |
Carolyn Elaine has emerged as an important community-based mosaicist. She has worked in collaboration with artists, schools, community groups and various organizations to beautify public spaces with mosaics. She holds a B.A. degree from Western Illinois University in Macomb IL., and a B.F.A. degree from the International Academy of Merchandise and Design, in Chicago IL. In spring 2007, Carolyn Elaine was selected from among the roster of A.R.T. artists to be named the first Julie Reynolds Shaw Memorial Artist. Carolyn was awarded a generous stipend to conduct a project which favorably impacts a school community while furthering her own practice as an artist. She worked with developmentally disabled students from the New Horizon Center to create a beautiful clay relief to adorn their new facility.
